Research into:
New architectural design tools like Autodesk Revit, Google Sketch up, and Google Earth can create 3D digital models of the world around us. Programs like Lumion and Enscape can create photo realistic computer animations, renderings, movies, and panoramas.
Thus we can visualize new 21st century building types like steel shipping container homes, modular home trailer parks, housing with private attached garages, private people movers, radical modernist interventions into historical urban settings, and long span steel structures for airports, convention centers, and train stations. All using new materials like steel shipping containers, colored glass stair tubes, and free formed concrete.
PHOTO REALISM:
Shown below are photo realistic comparisons of photos from two existing projects, a park building at Battery Park , a residence in Queens, NY, and the virtual digital versions created in Autodesk Revit.
Can you tell which photos are real?
NEW BUILDING TYPOLOGIES:
Shown below is a 2 story home constructed out of steel shipping containers, an apartment buildings with private stair tubes constructed out of colored glass, and a high rise apartment building with private attached garages.
USING GOOGLE EARTH:
Example projects shown below use Google Earth and Google Sketch Up to show examples of modern urban interventions into historical districts. This includes the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Indianapolis, Indiana Center Circle, and a Library for Queens, New York located under the subway.
LONG SPAN STRUCTURES:
Photo realistic digital renderings below of long span structures including SOM's Virginia Beach Convention Center, and John Kean's King Cross Station in London, UK.
